So let's recap. What have we (and when I say we, I always mean me. I'm doing this myself with little to no help...) done so far?

Week 1: Demo

Week 2: Flooring

Week 3: Baseboard removal

Week 4: ......

Back in week 1 I had taped out the entire closet design planning to use the Ikea Pax system. But, it looks like Ikea has discontinued the 13" depth units, and the 22" deep units wouldn't

fit in the space with enough space to walk through. Although, Ikea now claims their units will be back in stock in 2 weeks... food for thought.

In that case, I went on a hunt to find a new system to use. So far that has resulted in using Lowe's Blue Hawk pieces. However, these pieces only come in 36, 48 and 97 inch width options. I might be able to cut them down, but I'd like to keep things as simple as possible.

This results in swapping a few things around. Changing the lightswitch side to only having 48" shelves, because there is no linen closet on this side of the house and I also need more shelves. However, this means having to move the long hang section.

Here's where the dilemma comes in. I like having things symmetrical. So the long wall was going to be 2 double hang sections with a dresser in between. I have to turn one of these sections into a long hang, but the dilemma lies in do I still put the dresser in the middle or do I move that to also be a double hang? I would really like more drawer space, but do I have enough hanging space with this design?

Or do I take the shoe storage on the other side and see if I can fit the 15" deep 36" single hang there?

I'm in the paralysis by analysis stage. I need to figure out the best use of the space with still

making it the pretty coastal design I imagine.

But there is a best of both worlds option... installing a rod above the built in dresser. I have plenty of height. So far that looks like my best option and I have a quick and dirty sketch I made on my phone since the best ideas always come when you're in the middle of doing something else. Yay.

Either way. Build is currently on pause, I'll explain more in week 6!

New goal: finish before Christmas. I think that's attainable.

Up next for week 5.... do I continue forward with the faux shiplap, find a peel and stick wallpaper, or just paint?

TOODLES!
