Woaahhh we're halfway thereeee
What is up with today's new builds? Did designers and builders just forget the average person needs storage in their home? Let's get into it, but first....
Welcome to Week 4 of the Spring One Room Challenge, check out the previous weeks' progress below!

Storage Dilemma
"New construction homes: where 'laundry room' is just a polite way of saying 'tiny space with no storage'! 🚫🧺 But fear not, I'm on a mission to change that! 💪🔧 Currently knee-deep in a DIY project to transform my laundry room into a storage powerhouse! 🛠️🧺 #LaundryRoomRevolution #StorageWarrior"
Well. Sort of.
I'm limited by space... my laundry room is only about 6'x6' and there's only one place to put the washer and dryer since there's doors to kitchen, garage, HVAC closet, and a router cabinet. ALL that is in this tiny space.
Last week I put a dent in my dryer hanging cabinets, but they're up! I decided to go with 2 individual cabinets rather than cabinets all the way across. Why? Well, I wanted to keep the space from feeling too closed off. So I now plan on building extra storage above the cabinets. I'm using 1/2" MDF that I had leftover from my closet build and matching the dimensions to the cabinets below.
The upper cabinet built, paint, and mounting is the main goal for week 4... stay tuned to see how else I will add storage and make this space match the rest of the house!
So.. here's some of the in progress photos... not gonna lie it actually took 2 tries to get this thing up. The first time I didn't account for the door trim in my measurements so the unit actually got stuck and i had to shimmy it down. I'll need to touch up those walls later whoops. Solution? Take one half apart and trim off 2.5".
It looks a little wonky now with the asymmetrical cut... but I'll hide it with trim later this week. Either way, I didn't fall and the cabinet is up in one piece!
Week 5 I should finally be able to reveal my backsplash choice... it may be a controversial one... stay tuned!
TOODLES!
